The law of Mentalism is the first of the seven Universal Laws. It states that “The All is Mind, the Universe is Mental.” This means that people’s minds or consciousness are the underlying substance of the Universe and that this consciousness is the mind of the Absolute. However, even with this brief overview, the Law of Mentalism can still be quite confusing. A more in-depth explanation is usually necessary.

The Law of Mentalism states that the Universe is a function of human minds and those minds are the underlying fabric of the Universe as it is known. Essentially, the universe is simply a mental construct that humans have fabricated and therefore reality is a projection of all human minds.

If you have spent time studying spirituality, how the human mind works, and how it affects your daily life, then you are undoubtedly wondering how the Law of Mentalism functions. Keep reading to find out more about the Law of Mentalism and gain a better grasp on the tenets of the law.

Explaining the Law of Mentalism

The Law of Mentalism dictates that the universe is mental, and, therefore, your reality is largely a byproduct of your consciousness. Essentially, every human has their mind, which is a part of a Universal Mind, or overarching consciousness, from which reality stems. Each individual reality is created from the thoughts each person has and the actions taken on them.

According to the Law of Mentalism:

  • Everything in the known universe is created from thought or mind, and nothing can exist without it.
  • Everything seen and experienced has its origin in the depths of the invisible or mental realm.
  • Everything that you experience is a result of what you think or what your mental state perpetuates.

The short answer is that when humans put their minds to something and work at it, they can accomplish almost anything. That is why the Law of Mentalism states that the reality that humans experience is created in their minds.

To a point, it is; if you seek to create a reality from an image in your mind, it technically proves the Law of Mentalism to be true.

When it comes to creating your own reality under the Law of Mentalism, you need to be clear. If you are not, then mistakes occur and it is much more difficult to achieve the goal you have set in your mind. If you take it in this manner, the Law of Mentalism embodies having a strong mindset.

Explaining the Main Principle of Mentalism

The Law of Mentalism, in and of itself, has principles, not just dictations. The nature of energy, power, and matter is subjective to your mind and its will, as it shows in yourself and the pervasive nature of all other things that appear before you.

All matter is a mental creation, and therefore all matter in the universe, living or otherwise, is the production and thought of an overall Mind that all people belong to and are members of, with their own individual thought processes. Essentially, the mind is a creation, the limitations of which are not yet defined or known.

The opinion that the mind is the master of its own reality is a popular one; some Christian doctors, for instance, believe that disease is a mental rather than physical state. Despite what views you may hold on Christian doctors, one solid point is this: The mind is involved in decision making and has been since the inception of humanity.

The Law of Mentalism focuses on the mind and decision-making and prioritizes it. The mind creates your reality, therefore, in order to maintain that reality and/or create a better one, if you so desire, then action is required. Under the Law of Mentalism, there is a direct correlation between thoughts and behaviors, and subsequently success.

What Does Mentalism Mean?

Aside from the Law of Mentalism, mentalism refers to branches of study that focus on perception and thought processes. The following concepts are examples of this:

  • Mental imagery
  • Cognition
  • Consciousness

This is also known as cognitive psychology.

Circling back to the Law of Mentalism, psychology follows it in that it refers to inner causes humans follow in order to explain behavior. Humans’ mental processes both create a purpose and subsequently justify behavior and actions needed to achieve that purpose. As the mind creates reality, so too is a person’s capacity to rationalize their choices created.

Humans, despite what they may tell you, do not like change. If the mind is responsible for creating your reality, then you obviously do not want to drastically change it in a way you are not comfortable with, so you tend to avoid big changes with uncertain outcomes that you cannot immediately perceive.

Mentalism also means going back to reality and mental actions. It means that your universe really is what you make of it. Obviously, you may have factors beyond your control in your life, but on the whole, your mental state, your mindset, and your actions stemming from that mindset determine what your reality looks like going forward.

The Law of Mentalism is a Cosmic Law

Cosmic laws, of which the Law of Mentalism is one, are not legal documents and have no real effect if you ignore them. What cosmic laws really are, are theories and statements that have been consistent throughout history regarding humans, human minds, what governs them, and how humans use them.

Where the Law of Mentalism comes in is stating that all are of the mind:

  • Your reality
  • How you move through the world
  • How you work toward goals and overcome challenges

All of this stems from the mind. Now, this is not the conscious part that you use to think every day and make coffee, but rather the force behind the scenes that actually takes action.

As stated before, humans have minds that, under the Law of Mentalism, are part of one giant consciousness that governs and makes up the universe overall. There are billions of people on Earth, so when viewed in that context, one can think of each individual human as a synapse that has the potential to affect the outcome of other people’s lives.

This attempt at a hive mind theory is also a partial explanation of Christianity. The theory is that all people are interconnected with those around them, not just face to face, but connected mentally, in a way. This is part of the Law of Mentalism—not just being part of one consciousness, but being connected on a subconscious level too.

The Law of Mentalism and the Law of Correspondence

The Law of Correspondence is another cosmic law that works in tandem alongside the Law of Mentalism. It states that there is one infinite mind attempting to communicate with you. In essence, it states that one overall mind gives you the answers to the universe, but you subconsciously block these communications.

The Law of Correspondence relates to the Law of Mentalism on the subconscious side of things, in that humans all attempt to subconsciously communicate with each other but subconsciously block it as they believe it is unnatural to be able to do this, or that humans are not yet worthy of this ability. Still, it is interesting how cosmic laws are all intertwined and related.

Conclusion

The Law of Mentalism may seem or sound like something peddled by someone who spends a lot of time thinking wishfully and attempting to be on a different spiritual plane through various influences. However, it does have legitimate roots in the human consciousnesses and society overall.
